I did it. I caved in!

If you know me personally, then you know I'm a bit old fashion when it comes to children dressing their age. I dislike going to stores and seeing clothing for little girls that look more for teenagers. Same thing with make up and nail polish. Well, I finally caved in on one thing. Nail polish. Yes, I have seen little, little, girls wearing them. I am just afraid if I start something, it'll just be a first step to other many things to come. So many girls dress up older than they are. Do. not. like. that. at.all!

I decided that after 6 years, my daughter may have her nails done for the first time. I told her I had a surprise for her and to wait outside. I put the nail polish bottles and stuff in my back pocket so she wouldn't see what was going to happen. I asked her what she thinks her surprise is.

"Don't know."

Then I ask her to place her hands on the table. She did and looked up. I think it clicked! lol She's been asking for years for her nails to be "painted".

Putting on the clear coat first and my daughter blowing it. She wanted to see her nails done quickly!

Asking her what color she thinks it will be.

"Pink?"

Photobucket

Yup, pink! Light pink. Tea Rose pink from Sally Hansen. She was reading the front of the whole bottle. She was so excited!

First coat done. See those nail clippers? I bought those BEFORE she was even born! They are almost 7 years old! My baby is now having her nails done. sniff.

Can you tell she's really happy about this whole thing??

Photobucket

Ta Da! In this photo, you can't tell her nails are done but you can see it's pink. I see it's pink! lol

Hubby thinks I opened a can of worms but I can deal with things if it happens. I am the one buying the polish. I will decide when she can have her nails done the next time. I AM the mother. I told her as much a few minutes after it was all done. She knows this is not an every week thing. Yes, I am tough but in these days, you have to be the mom and not the best friend.

Today she is looking at her hands and placing them ever so nicely on her lap when watching tv. She feels like a grown up and I feel my baby is starting to become a young girl. Hold me.

A Bientot!

Thanks for your input on the blogging problems. Charting it...but I don't see any consistancies. Anyways..your daughter is so cute...and sweet with her nails polished. Oh sweetie, the firsts are just beginning. But enjoy the days...they go so fast!

I started letting my now 6 year old have her nails painted last year and she was so tickled like your daughter. It is so cute!

More than anything, you made a memory!

One little girl in Jack's 1st grade class wears eye shadow near daily! I blows my mind and I actually worry about her.

Audrey's worn polish a few times now, and it's still so special. I won't have many years to control and monitor, so I'm laying the foundation now while I can!

Try painting her toenails next...you can get more adventurous on the colors and no one can see them in closed in shoes.
