Valentine Treats.

My children have Valentine parties. My daughter will have hers tomorrow. My son has one today and one tomorrow. I Cupcake Pops like Bakerella. These are not difficult to do...just a bit time consuming. Here are the photos of how to make them step by step.

Cupcake Pops

1 box of Cake mix (your choice)
1 can of frosting (your choice)
Candy melts (chocolate and another color for the top)
Candy sticks
Styrofoam or a bowl full of sugar
Small flower shape cookie cutter
Sprinkles or whatever you want to decorate it with (optional)

Bake the cake (I made a vanilla cake) as directed in the package. You can also make your own homemade cake but it make made it for a very moist cake. Oops! Hihihi

Cool the cake completely. Once cooled, crumbled it finely with your hands. Add the can of frosting and mix well.

Now start making balls. I made big (about 1 3/4") but it's better to make them about 1 1/2". Once done, put them in the freezer for about 15 minutes.

Melt chocolate candy melts by the package direction or in a bain marie. Here's a tip. Melt them in small batches or you will over cook the chocolate. Last year white chocolate chips still haunts me. *sudder*

Now shape them oblong and use your cookie cutter and insert it halfway to make the cupcake end. Push it out. Now dip the end into the melted chocolate. You can do it by hand or use a bamboo skewer to dip them. Once dipped, turn over and insert a candy stick and let it rest on parchment paper. It will set very quickly.

Once they are all done. Use another glass bowl or pyrex cup and melt the other chocolate (I used pink). Now dip the other side in the melted chocolate. Sprinkle with sprinkles *lol*. Now insert them in Styrofoam or a bowl full of sugar. It needs to stand up to set up. And that's it! Easy right? It took me about 1 1/ hours to assemble all of them. I made almost 3 dz of these.

My kids loved it. They had one this morning after breakfast. Yes, I'm not a good maman in letting them in cake in the am. It's Valentine time so why not?

He was looking at his sister eating hers. lol

I made them for my son preschool and some heart shaped, mini cheese sandwitches. Forgot to take a photo of the sandwitches. Hey, life gets busy!

They really are so elegant. What a treat for the kiddies. You are definitely my hero. I wanted to be like you when my boys were growing up. Enjoyed your blog.
